The production of wheat, which is one of the common ingredients of sweets, is the largest in Japan. Please come and enjoy many sweets and various breads around Tokachi, also called the kingdom of sweets.

Wheat is one of the ingredients of bread. Tokachi produces the largest amount of wheat in Japan. Various kinds of wheat have been developed to produce (soft) cake flour used in sweets as well as (hard) bread flour in recent years. Bakeries that use 100% Tokachi wheat and restaurants that serve local products have been increasing in the Tokachi area. There are so many shops that offer delicious sweets in the cities, towns and villages. At some shops one can even take part in a sweets stamp rally, and at others buy a special sweets tour ticket. There are many unique confectionery products using local Tokachi products such as sweetened adzuki beans grown in Honbetsu and Yokan (adzuki-bean jelly) containing Rawan butterbur from Ashoro. You can enjoy eating them yourself, and they are also recommended souvenirs. Since the Tokachi area is blessed with great ingredients for sweets and bread, you can enjoy these at reasonable prices.

Tokachi Bagel takes local flour and beats, pairs it with white birch tree sap harvested in Taiki, as well as other ingredients from around Tokachi to produce wholesome, delicious, healthy bagels. They are preparing to relocate to West 4 South 28 in June this year.

Established in 1950, Mayusapan has six branch shops in Tokachi making it a familiar favorite. This shop produces wholesome breads using ingredients raised in Tokachi.

This sweetshop began with their first creation ‘Ginban,’ resembling a wintertime skating rink. Since then, the shop has expanded to offer variety of both western and Japanese-style sweets.
