Various kinds of wheat have been developed to produce (soft) cake flour used in sweets as well as (hard) bread flour in recent years. Bakeries that use 100% Tokachi wheat and restaurants that serve local products have been increasing in the Tokachi area. There are so many shops that offer delicious sweets in the cities, towns and villages. At some shops one can even take part in a sweets stamp rally, and at others buy a special sweets tour ticket. There are many unique confectionery products using local Tokachi products such as sweetened adzuki beans grown in Honbetsu and Yokan (adzuki-bean jelly) containing Rawan butterbur from Ashoro. You can enjoy eating them yourself, and they are also recommended souvenirs. Since the Tokachi area is blessed with great ingredients for sweets and bread, you can enjoy these at reasonable prices.
