Manabe Garden (Manabe Teien)
This fancy conifer forest that attracts many visitors is the first conifer garden in Japan.
The garden covers an area of 24,000 tsubo (approx. 79,000 m2) and has three differently themed areas. One can enjoy walking around the garden. Hundreds of kinds of exotic tree species, which were imported from northern Europe and Canada, as well as garden trees are planted among seasonal flowers and plants.They create an atmosphere where visitors can feel relaxed and at peace. While walking around the garden, one may encounter Ezo red squirrels or mallards. On sunny days, tables are set up on the café terrace and people can enjoy lunch or a drink there, one of the attractive things about the garden. There is a garden center where one can buy the latest cultivars next to the entrance.
