The Tokachi Wine Festival is held to celebrate grape harvests and the start of wine making, and one of the most popular events in Tokachi is to enjoy Tokachi wines and beef grilled over charcoal. At the festival, Tokappu red wine, white wine and citizens’ rose as well as grape juice are included in the all-you-can-drink event, while the all-you-can-eat event includes grilled Tokachi beef, beef sausage, beef hamburger steak, Chan-Chan Yaki and local potatoes boiled in a giant pot, although these are limited in quantity. A particularly popular event is that of three whole Ikeda cows that are roasted on a spit for ten hours. At the site, there are interesting events introducing local wines, including a lottery with wine as the prizes, a contest to guess the name of wines and a contest of producing wines using brewing methods form medieval Europe.
