Shihoro Harvest Festival (Shihoro Shuukakusai)

Shihoro Harvest Festival (Shihoro Shuukakusai)

Events including an all-you-can stuff sale of potatoes and a speed-eating contest are held to celebrate the harvest of agricultural products.

This festival takes place when agricultural products are harvested in Shihoro, a town where agriculture is a key industry, and local products are offered at special prices. Among these, all-you-can-stuff sales of potatoes and onions are popular every year. People line up in front of stalls offering Shihoro beef steak and Shihoro jumbo pot dish. There are also speed-eating contests of grape tomatoes and potato chips, and a bingo game held on a stage set up at the site. One can enjoy many events involving autumn foods. Sales of agricultural and livestock foods that had been processed by Shihoro high school students and of prison industry products are also popular parts of this festival.
