Urahoro Harvest Festival (Urahoro Furusato-no-minori Matsuri)
The festival is held out of gratitude for the harvest, and to celebrate a good harvest. One may be lucky enough to get local products at the Minorimaki event.
This festival is held to celebrate a good harvest in the fall every year. At the festival, one may be lucky and get local products at the Minorimaki event. One can also participate in a game of catching live salmon fish by hand, while popular singers give live performances. Fresh agricultural and marine products are also on display to be sold, and there are various food and other fair stalls to enjoy. The festival also features Minorimaki, a special event involving rice cakes weighing a total of 360 kg (about 6 rice bales) that are thrown to visitors. Some of the rice cakes thrown from the tower have a winning ticket inside, and if you are able to catch one, you can receive local products such as salmon.
